The Center for Resilient, Adaptable, and Safe Communities

C-RASC In the Classroom

[Draft – initial ideas only]

Our plans include

  • Masters-level resilience certificate
    • Examine current offerings related to resilience across the campus
    • Develop 1 or 2 courses (e.g., overview and “capstone” courses) to form the core of the certificate
    • Identify “course packages” of core + 3-4 other courses that could form a concentration within different departments / schools, so students could earn the certificate along with a masters degree in multiple programs
  • As case study progresses, develop teaching materials based on case study
    • Can be used in certificate course(s) and/or provided to instructors in other courses
  • Weave participation in STAR-TIDES demo into appropriate courses
    • Seek out and engage instructors of appropriate courses
    • Develop teaching materials for instructors
  • Engage with STEM education initiatives in Northern Virginia, such as Thomas Jefferson HS and NVCC
